Another Army vehicle attacked by LTTE claymore mine [Monday , July 24, 2006 - 10.05 GMT]

The Army reports another claymore attack on a moving Army tractor in Vavuniya this morning (24) around 8.40 a.m. It claimed the life of an Army Sergeant.

Terrorists in hiding activated the claymore mine on the Army tractor, which was on administrative duties killing Staff Sergeant P.K.D. Alwis and injuring two other soldiers.

The injured soldiers were admitted to the Anuradhapura hospital for treatment.
The tractor received heavy damages and skidded off the road as a result of the blast.
