Douglas Devananda's PRO shot dead- Wellawatta [Monday , July 24, 2006 - 9.45 GMT]

The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Minister Douglas Devananda was shot by unidentified gunmen suspected to be LTTE members this morning (24 July).

This incident took place at IBC road at Wellawatta at 6.55 a.m. while he was returning from the Temple near his residence.

Mr. Mahakanapathy Pillai who was critically injured during the shooting died whilst being rushed to the teaching hospital at Kalubowila.
