Sri Lankans return from Beirut [Friday, August 4, 2006 - 8.45 GMT]

Today 252 Sri Lankans returned to the island on a Qatar airlines flight, while yesterday 280 returned from Lebanon on a Middle Eastern airlines flight chartered by IOM. 

According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Himalee Arunathilaka another 250 are expected on Monday (7th). Till the 10th of August Qatar airlines has given the use of its Airbus A 300 with a capacity of 250 passengers at a time, solely for the evacuation of Sri Lankans.
