SLMM Trinco office relocates to Habarana temporarily [Thursday, August 17, 2006 - 9.15 GMT]

The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) Trincomalee office is temporarily relocating to Habarana due to the security situation in Trinco being unsafe states the group’s spokesperson Thorfinnur Omarsson.

“The SLMM will continue monitoring and patrolling Trinco as far as possible while being based in Habarana”, he said.

He denied reports stating that the monitors in Trinco were returning to Colombo, but said the monitors would continue with their work while being based in Habarana, which is 86 km south of Trincomalee.
