LTTE conspiracy to buy submarines cracked [Monday, August 28, 2006 - 9.05 GMT]

An LTTE conspiracy to purchase submarines and warship design software from a British company has been cracked.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed that LTTE front man Suresh Sri Skandharaja alias waterloo Suresh, has been the mastermind of the conspiracy.

The FBI said that according to this company's website, the tigers had agreed to provide 22,000 US Dollars for the software. Skandharaja is in US police custody for involvement in a weapons transaction in New York.

He had revealed of the submarine and software plans during interrogation by the FBI. Information had contained in an e-mail message sent by Skandharaja to the British private company. Based on the purchase order.

The FBI said what he had arranged to purchase included a solid modeller. It enables the designer to create a solid model of a marine vehicle. This is a programme that permits the designer to assess the stability of submarine and other programmes that enables a designer to perform dynamic simulations of a submarine.

Skandharaja is among 05 persons indicted by the FBI in the Eastern District Court of New York for providing material support to the LTTE.
