President to leave for Havana tomorrow [Tuesday, September 12, 2006- 9.05 GMT]

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to leave the island tomorrow for the Cuban capital Havana, to attend the 14th Non Aligned Summit (NAM).

Over a 100 heads of states and officials are to attend the biggest Summit of leaders besides the United Nations. This is the second time Havana is hosting the NAM Summit since 1979.

The official level Nam meetings began yesterday and foreign ministers will start their session tomorrow. Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera will attend the meeting.
