Industrial Development Minister Kumara Welgama appointed to supervise the Ranaviru welfare activities; recently inspected several proposed lands in order to select a suitable land to build a new Transit Camp close to Habarana for the members of the armed forces and the police. A 2 ½ acre land belonging to the Paddy Market Board was chosen for the construction of the Transit Camp which would fulfill a long felt need of the members of the armed forces and police. Presently there are only two Transit Camps and they are situated in Anuradhapura and Rathmalana. Members of the forces who are on leave to visit their villages and those who report back to the relevant service stations after leave stay at these transit camps until they obtain transport facilities. Minister Welgama also hopes to engage in a tour of the existing transit camps to look in to the various shortcomings in them and to overcome them. During this tour Minister Welgama also went to the Anuradhapura Government hospital and army hospital to visit the wounded soldiers and to inquire about their well-being and also donated clothes, dry rations and other goods required by the soldiers. The minister also held a discussion with the hospital authorities regarding the existing shortcomings of the Army Hospital.
