A claymore mine weighing 15 kg was found today near the Police Officers’ mess in Wellawatta, Colombo this morning, around 9.35am. Acting on information received from a civilian the Special Task Force (STF) bomb disposal team. The Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) reports that due to the vigilance of a civilian a major disaster in the city was averted. Recently another 15 kg claymore mine was defused in Borella, concealed amongst vegetables in a box on the back of a bicycle.
