Senior DIG Victor Perera appointed as IGP [Thursday, October 05, 2006 - 9.30 GMT]

Senior DIG Victor Perera was appointed as the new Police Chief by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He will assume duties as the 30th Inspector General of Police on Thursday. The present IGP Chandra Fernando is due to retire on Monday.

DIG Victor Perera joined the police force in 1974 as an Assistant Superintendent and has an Economics Special Degree from the Colombo University. He is a father of four.
