Akashi due in Sri Lanka to enhance preparations for peace talks

Japanese special envoy Yasushi Akashi will be in Sri Lanka from the 15th to the 20th of October.
 
According to a Japanese embassy release Akashi is scheduled to meet with officials of the Sri Lankan government and leaders of the LTTE with a view to enhancing the constructive effort to hold peace talks between the government and the LTTE at the end of the month. He will also exchange views on the peace process and its future with leaders of political parties, international organizations and others.

This is Akashi’s 13th visit to Sri Lanka since he was appointed as the Representative of the Government of Japan for Peace-building, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sri Lanka.
