Intermittent clashes at Muhamalai FDL

There were no close quarter battles today but intermittent clashes with the LTTE firing artillery and mortars and the troops retaliating at the Muhamalai Forward Defence Line (FDL) said Military spokesperson Brig. Prasad Samarasinghe.

He said that during yesterday’s ground battles 200 LTTE cadres were confirmed killed with many more injured. He said the LTTE was finding it difficult to treat the injured cadres and were taxing civilians for blood donations. 

43 soldiers are reported dead, with 224 injured. A further 30 are missing.
