Suicide attack death toll rises to 92

The death toll from today’s suicide attack on a naval convoy at the Digampathana transit camp has risen to 92, reports the Media Centre for National Security.

A suicide truck which had come from the Dambulla side had rammed the naval convoy. The victims of the attack were unarmed naval personnel returning to duty and those going on leave.

Speaking to a local TV channel this evening Defence Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the Government would have to take appropriate action after discussions.

Meanwhile a team of Government Ministers are reported to have traveled to the area to help ease the situation of there.
