Boucher arrives in the island

Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard Boucher arrived in the island today and met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa, at Temple Trees this morning. 

According to reports received so far, the discussions had focused on the current situation in the country and the up coming peace talks, scheduled for the 28 and 29 of this month in Geneva. 

The Assistant Security is also scheduled to meet with civil leaders, government ministers, civil society leaders and non-governmental organizations to discuss the peace process, human rights and access to conflict areas.
