LTTE kills 3 from breakaway faction

The LTTE early this morning (1 am) attacked a political office of a LTTE breakaway faction killing three activists and injuring eight others. The office is situated on the Chenkalady-Badulla road in Batticaloa. 

The attack was carried out with hand grenades and small arms while the political activists were sleeping reports the Army. The injured were admitted to the Batticaloa hospital.  

The LTTE breakaway faction has opened political offices in Colombo and in parts of the north and east. A Police team has commenced investigations.  

Meanwhile yesterday LTTE carders had fired upon troops providing security to the Vavunathivu Divisional Secretariat and the Army detachment on the Vavunathivu Bridge. Troops retaliated repulsing the attack.
