New flying squad to combat
corruption in Railway Department

Transport Minister A H M Fowzie has agreed to establish a new flying
squad to eliminate corruption and inefficiency. The squad will be
directly accountable to the Minister with employees of the Railway
Department being recruited for the purpose.
On a request made by
a delegation of the Independent Railway Workers Union during a meeting
yesterday the Minister agreed to pay special attention to the proposals
submitted by the Union.
- The adoption of a system procedure for
Departmental purchases
- Recovery of all dues from those who are
residing on Railway Department lands and work according to law with
regard to Railway lands
- Establishing a formal committee to ascertain
the situation of politically victimized employees and due promotions
denied to them.
- Establishing a Emergency Inquiry Unit for the
Railway Department
