Government briefs Co-Chairs on outcome of talks

The Government peace delegation yesterday briefed the Co-Chairs to the Tokyo donor conference on the outcome of the Geneva talks. Led by Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva the Government reiterated its commitment to resolving on the ongoing conflict. 

Minister de Silva said the President had taken measures to address the immediate needs of the people in Jaffna so that they would not live in hunger as a result of the closure of the A9 road. 

The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera. The Government praised Norway for its role in facilitating the talks between the two sides. 

Minister de Silva once again stressed that despite the LTTE attempting to portray otherwise the A9 was not closed forcibly but as a result of fierce attacks launched by the LTTE against the security forces.
