LTTE attack at Mavil Aru successfully repulsed by troops
[Tuesday, November 7, 2006 - 7.00 GMT]

The LTTE last evening fired at troops in Mavil Aru, Trincomalee using mortars, machineguns and small arms. The troops had retaliated successfully with no damages reported.

Troops had also successfully retaliated a LTTE attack on an Army foot patrol in Thirunaveli, Jaffna last night. The Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) reports that during a search operation in the area following the
attack troops had recovered two LTTE bodes, two T 56 weapons, three magazines and 57 ammunitions.

No damages were reported to the troops.

Meanwhile, yesterday Air Force Kfir jets bombed an identified sea tiger base in Palachenai North of Vakarai.

Air Force intelligence sources confirmed the sea tiger base was completely destroyed by the air strikes. The MCNS says the tiger base was used by the Tigers to mount attacks on Naval Crafts.
