Late MP Raviraj's funeral to be held in Jaffna
[Monday, November 13, 2006 - 9.10 GMT]

All arrangements have been finalized by the Government to airlift the remains of parliamentarian Nadaraja Raviraj to Jaffna, for the funeral to be held Wednesday (14) in Chavakachcheri.

Speaking on national TV last night Defence Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella on Saturday (11) said all facilities have been provided by the Government to airlift members of the family, relatives and colleagues to
Jaffna.

The Minister explained however the request made by the Tamil National Alliance members to open the A9 to transport the remains to Jaffna, was turned down by the Government for security reasons.

He said interested parties should not make the opening of the A9 an issue for narrow political gains.
