Troops recover arms and ammunition [Wednesday, November 15, 2006 - 9.30 GMT]

Troops on a search operation today (15) at 8.30 a.m. in Vinayagapuram in the Valaichennai area recovered two T-56 assault rifles, two hand grenades, eleven magazines and sixty rounds of live ammunition.

Meanwhile in a separate incident the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) reports a hand grenade being recovered from a garbage heap in Kollupitiya early this morning.

The STF Bomb Disposal Team had defused the grenade.
