Govt. to send one million schoolbooks

The Government will send one million schoolbooks to Jaffna to meet the educational needs of students for the new school year, January 2007.

On the instructions by the President, Minister of Education Susil Prema Jayantha has conveyed the Commissioner of Book Publication to send this consignment of text books beginning today.

Arrangements were made to ship new books on board the M.V. Ruhuna beginning today.

All provincial, zonal and district education officers have been instructed to obtain the new text books and ensure their distribution on time to the new school year in 2007.
