3200 flee to Kantalai from LTTE shelling

The number of Internally Displaced Persons ( IDPs) fleeing their homes and seeking shelter in the Government held area of Kantalai have now reached
3210, said the Media Centre for National Security.

Meanwhile the LTTE continued its artillery attacks for the fourth day targeting Kajuwatta and Mahindapura villages, in the Batticaloa District and army camps in the surrounding areas. There were no injuries reported
from the military in today's attack.

With continued attacks focusing on Vakarai area, civilians were reported moving from their places of residence in fear of heavy LTTE attacks. There were now 3210 IDPs in relief camps at Kantalai.
