Army kills 6 Tigers in Meeyankulam

LTTE terrorists withdrawing from Vakarai to Thoppigala area were confronted at Meeyankulam with an army patrol on Wednesday (13) night, resulting an exchange of fire. In a search operation conducted after the confrontation five bodies of Tiger terrorists and five T -56 assault rifles were recovered by the troops, said the SL Army Media Centre.

Army Sergeant KMS Ratnayake who was missing in action since 06.10 2006   was also found injured and abandoned by the LTTE terrorists at the scene of this incident. Later he was admitted by the Army to Polonnaruwa hospital

Meanwhile   LTTE terrorists on their way to attack Ullukkulama village in the Vavuniya area were attacked by Home Guards at 12.45 a.m today (14), forcing the Tigers to flee. The body of a terrorist was found later with a T-56 assault rifle in a search operation   conducted by the Home Guards, the Army report added. 

No casualties were reported among the Home Guards.
