LTTE has abducted 455 children this year
[Wednesday, December 20, 2006 - 10.30 GMT]

The LTTE has abducted 455 children this year states the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS).

They have been abducted in government controlled areas and the actual figures may be more. Many parents were reluctant to complain to the police or any other authority through fear of the LTTE. Complaints have been received of 2061 children being abducted by the LTTE after the signing of the CFA in 2002, the MCNS said.

Abductions in uncleared areas could be more, but accurate figures cannot be given due to lack of information.
