Expert Council to implement Fiscal Policies

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed a committee of experts with special skills and competencies in economic activities with intent to obtain their assistance when taking decisions in government economic development programs presently under implementation and those proposed by the government for implementation in the future.  

The inaugural meeting of this committee chaired by the President was held at Temple Trees in the morning of 26th December. Finance Secretary Dr. P. B. Jayasundara, Governor Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabral, Professor W. D. Lakshman, Chairman of Policy & Study Institute Buddhadasa Hewavitharana and Executive Director Saman Kelegama, Director of World View Institute Loyd Fernando, Dr. Gunawardana of Colombo University, Secretary Highways S. Amarasekara and the Attorney- at- Law Mr. Gammanpila also attended the meeting.  

The aim of this committee is the preparation of government monetary plans, economic development strategies, forecasting and review of future development activities, collection of policy data and their implementation in accordance with the government policy.
