A bomb blast near Vavuniya Children's Park
[Wednesday, December 27, 2006 - 9.30 GMT]

A police constable on patrol in the road near Vavuniya Children's Park was killed today (27) at 8.35 am in a claymore bomb blast by the terrorists. The claymore bomb was fixed targeting the police team patrolling near the Children's Park road. 

The police and the SLA jointly conducted a search operation near Children's Park area after the claymore explosion, said Media Centre for National Security.
