Health care - 2500 nurses to be newly recruited

Under Phase I of the program to recruit 15,000 nurses in the Health sector, 2500 nurses were recruited today (Jan. 04). Symbolizing this 490 trainee nurses were given their letters of appointment by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees this morning (Jan. 04).  

The recruitment of 15, 000 nurses was in fulfills a pledge given in Mahinda Chintana to establish a good health care service island-wide. The trainee nurses who received letters of appointment today are from the Colombo, Gampaha and Hambantotata districts.
