LTTE-instigated students burn bus
[Monday, January 08, 2007 - 9.45 GMT]

Some Jaffna students have set fire to the bus they traveled to school this morning.

A group of students of the Hindu Vidyalaya, Jaffna, who arrived at the school by bus this morning, had set fire to the bus after getting off it. The incident took place near Hindu Vidyalaya premises around 8.30 am today.

Security Forces believe the LTTE is behind this incident, aimed at instigating school children into disruptive acts. They said this act clearly indicated the LTTE WAS using every opportunity to disrupt normalcy in the area. The LTTE's latest tactic is to use civilians, including school
children, to initiate chaos and disorder in the North and East.

The Jaffna Police and the Army are conducting further investigations.
