Army counter-attack kills 14 terrorists

Security forces repulsed an attack by the LTTE from uncleared areas Pondukalachchenai and Sandiveli in Batticaloa that was launched around 11.00 p.m. on January 9. In the skirmish 14 LTTE terrorists were killed and 25 were injured, said the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS). 

The security forces were also able to recover 6 T-56 weapons, 2 claymore bombs, 6 grenades, and a large amount of explosive devices and a stock of dry rations during a search operation that followed, the MCNS further said.
