Priority to curb inflation of living costs

The government will soon introduce a national policy to control inflation and the rising cost of living.

This was decided at a meeting of the Economic Council recently appointed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to obtain advice and views with regard to economic activities of Sri Lanka.

At a meeting of the Council held at Temple Trees yesterday (23), Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Mr. Nivard Cabraal, explained at length the
current situation regarding the economy of Sri Lanka. Members of the Council in turn presented their proposals and views on necessary action to control
inflation and the cost of living.

It was decided that priority will be given to formulating and implementing a national to curb inflation and keep the cost of living under check, based on a national policy.
