President's statement defining aid plans

Sri Lanka believes it is a great step forward that international donors have decided to discuss future assistance in line with the President's forthright
statement on the problem of terrorism which is the biggest hurdle for development in Sri Lanka, said

Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Minister of Enterprise
Development and Investment Promotion.

President Rajapaksa's bold statement about the menace of terrorism and adverse impact on economical  development was highly appreciated by the high
level delegates attending the development forum in,

Dr. Amunugama and other observers said.

Addressing the Forum yesterday President Mahinda Rajapaksa said: "Our aim in defeating terrorism is to liberate the people who have become victims of
terrorism. In such a liberation excise, we are committed to ensure that human rights are preserved and democracy is respected,"

Dr. Amunugama added that the delegates were now in the process of discussing the issue of conversing on terrorism at an open forum. "This is indeed a welcome development," he said.
