Claymore mine kills 7 in Batticaloa

Four policemen and three soldiers were killed and 11 others injured in a claymore mine explosion at Vantharamulla in Batticaloa when they were traveling by bus from Batticaloa to Polonnaruwa.

Those killed and injured were on their way home on leave when they were caught in this explosion near the Eastern University at Vandaramulla in Batticaloa at 11:45. today.

Army Media Center said the injured have been admitted to base hospital, Batticaloa and the condition of two is critical. A search operation has been launched in the area.
