Sisira Priyanka, Treasurer of the Joint Front of Railway Trade Unions, Lalith Seneviratne, Editor of Hiru and Nihal Serasinghe of Diyesa, earlier believed to have been missing are under custody, said Government Defence Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella at a media briefing held in Colombo today.

According to confessions made to the Criminal Investigation Department they have been given a 10-day training in handling weapons by the LTTE six months ago in Kilinochchi.

After interrogating them the security forces were able to recover 6Kg of C-4 type explosives, 04 T-56 firearms with 449 bullets, 2 micro pistols with 49 cartridges, 50 9mm bullets and 2 Claymore mines weighing 1 Kg each and 60 electronic detonators.

Their arrest following a tip-off from a civilian averted a great disaster that would have occurred in Colombo, added the Minister.

The Minister also praised the efficiency and dedication of the security forces in averting that disaster by uncovering the LTTE agents among the Sinhala nationals. The CID is conducting further investigations.
