Displaced Vakarai civilians to return

Following President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s announcement in Vakarai recently that the resettlement of internally displaced persons from Vakarai in their earlier villages will begin within a month, a discussion was held yesterday (06) at the Ottamawadi Divisional Secretariat, Valachchenai attended by Eastern Province Governor Rear Admiral Rohan Jayawickrema, Disaster Relief Services Minister Amir Ali and Brigadier Daya Ratnayake.
  
During the discussion, attention was focused on the need to supply all facilities to the returnees including infrastructure such as schools, electricity, roads and irrigation facilities.
  
Soon the internally displaced persons of Vakarai will be able to return to their earlier settlements.
