Hindu priest assassinated

Parameswara Kurukkal, High Priest of Santhiveli Pillayar Kovil, Batticaloa was assassinated by LTTE terrorists yesterday (February 7)  evening around 7.30 p.m. at Santhivelli, Batticaloa. The 56 year old priest was a father of four children.
  
Parameswara Kurukkal garlanded President Mahinda Rajapaksa when he visited Vakarai on the eve of Independence Day to greet residents and security forces personnel who liberated the area.
