Defeating terrorism in Sri Lanka: Maldives pledges total support

President Abdul Gayoom of the Maldives had pledged his government’s total support to defeat terrorism in Sri Lanka. This was expressed during the bilateral talks between him and President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is on a three day official visit to the Maldives. As a sincere friend and a close neighbour the Maldives would support any measures followed by Sri Lanka to eradicate terrorism from its soil, President Gayoom added.
  
During the talks President Rajapaksa has pointed out the advantages of cooperation in promoting tourism in the region.
  
The Maldivian President also hosted a state banquet in honour of President Rajapaksa and his delegation yesterday evening.
