Claymore attack injures 12 civilians

A security check point at Kohombagastalawa, Ampara came under an LTTE attack this morning. The attack was repulsed with the help of the Special Task Force. In the confrontation 3 home guards were injured. Of them one succumbed to injuries and the other two were admitted to the Mahaoya Hospital, the MCNS said. The security forces were able to recover 3 dead bodies of  LTTE terrorists and 2 T-56 weapons. 

Meanwhile, twelve civilians were injured when a van carrying them from Nintavur came under an LTTE claymore bomb attack around 9.15 a.m. yesterday (13) at Arantalawa, Ampara. 

The MCNS states that there had been 15 persons in the van when the attack took place. Among the injured were 11 Muslims and one Sinhalese. Of them 7 persons with minor injuries had taken OPD treatment at the Mahaoya Hospital and 5 others were admitted to the Mahiyangana Hospital. The incident occurred near the memorial to the Buddhist monks who were gunned down by the LTTE several years ago.
