President meets British Minister

Dr.
Kim Howells, British Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth
Affairs held cordial talks with President Mahinda Rajapaksa this
morning. During the meeting Dr. Howells expressed his appreciation of
the measures taken by the government to curb terrorism and develop the
North and East. Prior to the meeting Dr. Howells toured the eastern
province and supervised several projects funded by the UK.
Dr. Howells also discussed matters pertaining to the further development
of friendly ties between the two countries. He had visited Sri Lanka
earlier in the capacity of State Minister for Trade and Industry.
Foreign Affairs Minister Rohitha Bogollagama and Secretary to the
President Lalith Weeratunga also participated at the talks.
