LTTE uses places of religious worship
[Wednesday, February 21, 2007 - 9.15 GMT]

Government Defence Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told the weekly media briefing this morning that the LTTE is using places of religious worship for terrorist activities in a bid to provoke the security forces to attack them in order to discredit them. He said that yesterday the Security forces visited St. Mary’s Church in Jaffna at the request of the Bishop of Jaffna who complained about the presence of some suspicious persons in the precincts. Though the suspects were able to escape, a search found 7 grenades, 4 pouches, 2 pairs of jungle boots, 3 cyanide pills and a transmitter used by the terrorists to send messages.
