Hambantota Harbour Project: Construction contract signed

Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the Chinese consortium comprising China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd and Sino Hydro Corporation Ltd signed the contract for the construction of the Hambantota Harhour at Temple Trees, Colombo at 10.30 this morning. 

Mr. Saliya Wickremesooriya, Chairman Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA),  SLPA Vice Chairman R.M.P.G. Wickreme and Dr. Hu Jianhu, President of China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd signed the Agreement.

During the state visit of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to China a few days back this consortium pledged to begin preliminary construction work within three months.

Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Mrs. Nirupama Rajapksa
MP, Secretary to the President Mr. Lalith Weeratunga, Finance Secretary. Dr. P.B. Jayasundara and several other officials were also present at the signing ceremony.
