LTTE denies drinking water to Kokkadicholai residents
[Friday, March 16, 2007 - 6.30 GMT]

The only water bowser distributing drinking water to drought affected Kokkadicholai residents has been stolen by the LTTE around 3 p.m. last Tuesday (13), together with the tractor and trailer transporting it. Thus the residents have been deprived of their basic right to water.

In July 2006 the LTTE closed the sluice gates of Mavil Aru depriving thousands of people their supply of water for drinking and cultivation purposes forcing the Security forces to conduct a humanitarian mission to restore the water supply.
