No more fuel shortages in Jaffna
KKS harbour gets 12000 ton Fuel Tank

[Friday, March 16, 2007 - 8.30 GMT]

A 12000 ton capacity Fuel Tank abandoned for over 20 years in the Kankasanthurai Cement factory, which was closed due to LTTE activities was commissioned as instructed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday (14) by the Navy with the support of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. The Navy with a massive effort within a short period of time was able to make the 12000 ton tank serviceable once again.

Today, the Kankasanthurai port has a refurbished 12000 ton capacity fuel storage tank which will cut the costs previously incurred by the Government as a result of long delays in the turnover of ships in Kankesanthurai due to the lack of a fuel storage tank facility.
