International Airport fully operational

[Monday, March 26, 2007 - 4.00 GMT] 

The Bandaranaike International Airport, is fully operational despite the LTTE attack on the nearby Air Force base at Katunayake in the early hours of today.

All incoming and outgoing flights are operating on schedule.

The LTTE attack carried out with a light aircraft failed to damage any of the fighter aircraft at the Air Force base nearby or cause any damage to its runway.

The attack came at 12.45 a.m. on Monday and the Air Force defence system got immediately activated preventing the enemy plane from making further
attempts.
