The Sri Lanka Air Force in attacks carried out today destroyed a major Sea Tiger Base of the LTTE in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU in the MULLAITTIVU District.

The attack took place shortly after noon today (April 4). In what military sources describe as a major aerial attack on the Sea Tigers, the fighter aircraft of the SLAF had completely destroyed the infrastructure of this key Sea Tiger Base.

This is one of the bases from which the Sea Tigers originate their suicide missions, military sources said.

The Sri Lanka Army Web Site reported that fuel storages, vehicles, and well as many suicide boats of the Sea Tigers went up in flames due to this aerial
attack, bringing the entire base under a carpet of fire and smoke.

There are no reports yet of casualties in the Sea Tiger Base.
