I congratulate the Captain and members of the Sri Lanka Cricket Team on the success in finishing as Runners-up in the ICC World Cup 2007 tournament.

Throughout this tournament you have displayed a commendable commitment to sportsmanship and dedication to the highest standards of the game, which has brought much credit to Sri Lanka. All Sri Lankans are proud of your sustained achievements through a long and arduous tournament.

I extend my appreciation to the Sri Lankan Cricket Coach and the officials of Sri Lanka Cricket for their whole hearted contribution towards this success.

I take this occasion to renew My Government's pledge to give all assistance to the continued success of Sri Lankan Cricket.
