Air strikes destroy key LTTE base

Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets today destroyed a key LTTE-base at Ramanatpuram, located east of Iranamadu in the northern Mullaitivu District.

The SLAF fighter jets began their attack on the strategic LTTE base at Ramanatpuram at 07.25 am. SLAF confirms that the base was completely destroyed in the successive air raids.

The Ministry of Defence quoting Air Force sources said the large complex of buildings including a fuel storage, large stock of arms, ammunition and explosives were completely destroyed in the raids.

The aerial reconnaissance reports of the attack indicated that fires lasted for hours after the attack on the targeted base, which was also used for the LTTE's recent training activities.

The intelligence sources revealed that the target had been accurately identified through timely ground information form reliable sources.
