President meets Malwatte and Asgiriya Maha Nayake Theras

President Mahinda Rajapaksa was in Kandy this morning (15). After paying homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha, the President visited the Maha Nayake Theras of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Nikayas and discussed the political and security situation of the country with them. He briefed the Maha Nayake Theras of the measures taken by the government recently including the enhancement of Buddhist religious relations with several institutions in countries he visited recently.
  
The Maha Nayake Theras pointed out to the President the urgency and importance of  finding a peaceful solution to the conflict in the North and the East and thanked him for assisting the temples in the conflict zone.
