World Bank lauds e-Sri Lanka Development Project

[Tuesday, June 19, 2007 - 6.00 GMT]

World bank Country Director Naoko Ishii lauded the e- Sri Lanka Development Project at a conference held in Colombo on June 14.

Referring to Sri Lanka’s effort to bring Government closer to the people through this project he said: “The government has taken vital steps in the correct direction. We are now able to see some services becoming more streamlined, for example, in the Department of Immigration and at motor vehicle registration offices. The vital factor to note is that the government is keeping its objective result oriented, and not process oriented.”

“This was a pioneer project in many ways and we are proud to have been providing support for this inspiring vision of our Sri Lankan clients”, he added.
