During the last few days the Government has been able to arrest several persons who were allegedly involved in abductions, involuntary removal of persons and intimations, said Defence Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella at a press briefing this morning (04) in Colombo. He said a former Air Force officer and an airman are already in custody and the police are looking for 10 more suspects. One suspect is supposed to be in Italy and the Police are seeking Interpol assistance to arrest him, the Minister added. The situation has been brought under control and no such incidents are now reported the Minister confirmed.

The Minister also said that attempts were made by interested parties to an ethnic colouring to these incidents but the government treats all communities alike, the Minister stressed.
