Suspects identified in Red Cross Volunteer killing

Suspects involved in the abduction and killing of two Red Cross volunteers have been identified but they are no longer in the Government controlled area, said Defence Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella at a press briefing this morning (04) in Colombo.

Two Red Cross volunteers K. Chandra Mohan and S. Shanmugalingam, both from Batticaloa were allegedly abducted by unidentified persons on June 01 evening opposite Fort Railway Station when they were returning home after a Red Cross workshop in Colombo. Later their bodies were found in Kiriella, Ratnapura with gun shot injuries. President Mahinda Rajapaksa then ordered a full inquiry into the incident and asked the IGP to provide a full report to him.
