Sri Lanka joins ARF

Minister of Foreign Rohitha Bogollagama signed yesterday (August 01) the Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) thereby
acceding Sri Lanka as a member of the Asian Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila, Philippines. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Foreign
Ministers of all ASEAN countries. This was followed by the signing of the Extension to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation by the Foreign Ministers of  ASEAN by which they endorsed Sri Lanka’s accession to the TAC.  Through this Treaty Sri Lanka becomes the 27th member of ARF.
  
“Sri Lanka’s admission to the ARF is a clear reflection of its pro-active role in regional and multilateral for the promotion of peace, dialogue and cooperation for the greater benefit of the Asia Pacific region and the world at large,” said an earlier press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
